Visual Evaluation of Medical Images
Using an Monochrome Liquid Crystal Display

Background
With the great
advances in technology over the past few years, a trend towards the use
of ultra-high luminant
LCDs is on the increase. However, there is a concern that the physical properties (luminance,
etc.) is not understood well enough by physicians to take advantage of the
improved luminance to assist
with their diagnosis. With displays of differing luminosity being implemented
in various clinics, we don't see enough
researches about relationship between diagnosability and display luminance.

Using ROC analysis,
we are presently evaluating whether the advanced features of newer displays exerts an influence
on the diagnosability.
